Mary Alger is the Director of Treasury at Lee Enterprises, Inc., headquartered in Davenport, Iowa. Lee serves 72 markets in 25 states as a leading provider of local news and information with daily and weekly newspapers, rapidly growing digital products, marketing services, and innovative technology.
Mary is responsible for the strategic direction, management and planning of Lee's treasury/cash operations, daily cash positioning and forecasting, dynamic receipt services, treasury IT integration, commercial bank and PCP relationships, reconciliations and GL posting for over 100 bank accounts, as well as all treasury-related internal controls. Her background includes both B2B & B2C operational payment strategies. Starting as the financial specialist on Lee’s proprietary circulation system over 25 years ago, Mary began implementing shared services philosophies before shared services were cool, driving change in a traditional environment. Her role grew to direct Operational Treasury, including major acquisitions and dispositions, finance centralization and digital transformation, and encompassing Corporate Treasury in 2023.
She holds a B.A. from Luther College and has two courses left to complete her MBA at the University of Iowa.
